JOSE HENDO (Chief Judge)


Jose Hendo is a designer who produces high-end fashion products using unique, popular, reclaimed, organic and other eco-friendly fabrics. Apart from promoting the use of eco textiles like organic and recycled materials the designer also supports ethical trading, and raising awareness about environmental issues raised by the fashion industry. In 2016 the label was awarded a Good Brand Award by Sublime magazine. José Hendo was also featured in their July 2016 issue in the article titled “7 who are changing the fashion industry”.

Bark to the Roots (B2TR) is an initiative to promote the use of barkcloth globally in the modern world, anchored in the ethos of the sustainable development goals, reminding us to preserve both our heritage and the environment. It endeavours to bring together people who are working with barkcloth in different and innovative ways, including those who harvest it and those who are using it. B2TR aims at saving the barkcloth heritage that is recognised by UNESCO. It is supporting a campaign to plant 1 million mutuba trees to increase the sustainability of the practice.

Sloz Ibhas is creative a media consultant, and industry influencer with over a decade worth of experience as a producer, director, photographer and filmmaker. The creator of the 4yr old ongoing entertainment show, TheBuzztvshow which airs every weekend on NollywoodTV, Sky channel 329, he is also, currently directing two brand new talk shows which centres on black women empowerment. As a director, Sloz has worked on a number of fashion and beauty  projects, skin care campaigns, magazine shoots, TV adverts and more. A dedicated content creator, Sloz's influence on media, especially within the African community can be seen on a brand new show launching in September 2017.

Helena is a photographer of people, products and space. Her experience as interior designer for 25 years has given her her unique style. Her personable approach to the people she photographs result in genuine photographs portraying real people. “there is something in Helena’s photographs that I have never seen before. I think it is her capacity to turn the simplest objects into real beauty. She has this ability to picture the soul of her subjects and turn it into art.”

Helena has been involved with the Cambridge Style Week (www.cambridgestyleweek.com) since its inception, both as a photographer and model. 



Denis Mugagga is a graduate in Public Service Management and holds a BSc in Professional Practice from City, University of London. He is the Lead singer at Ganda Boys which was recently nominated for the Independent Music Awards and was awarded a certificate of appreciation by Lions club for service delivery. Denis is also the Co-Founder of Ganda Foundation which is an active charity for global peace as part of their forgotten people campaign. In 2006-2009 Mr. Mugagga worked with Joe Penhall, Executive Director on a BBC2 Moses Jones, and a three-part prime time drama series as a consultant on the script and Character development Assistant.

By profession, Denis is an external consultant for sole proprietorship and Local cultural organizations with a specialty in African communities. Currently, Denis is in alliance with Sky Blue Systems, a strongly recommended IT company to deliver sustainable ICT systems at Kawolo Hospital in Uganda on behalf of Ganda Foundation.
